Council candidates Ed London and Fernando Vazquez are relying on their previous service as they compete for seats on Key Biscayne’s village council.

Both say they support lifting the island’s current debt cap to help fund what could be $250 million in seal level rise and resiliency projects, but differ on other issues.

London is seeking his third term on the council and says he hasn’t finished his mission to make government more efficient.

Vazquez has not held elective office, but points to his work as an environmental engineer and experience in flood control projects in Miami Beach. He also led the AECOM consulting team that helped set the village’s storm water goals.
